The rules for reporting attendance to the state of California have changed. Please review the SDUHSD Student Attendance Policy for details of how we code student absences.

Information For Calling or Emailing in an AbsenceTop of Page

To report an absence please be prepared with:
  1. Student's name and Student ID #
  2. Your name and relationship to student
  3. The reason for absence
  4. The date of the absence
  5. A contact phone number
When emailing, please specify in the subject line "Absence" and include the above listed information. For absences related to illness, please contact the attendance office for each day your student is absent. For personal business absences, such as travel, one email  is sufficient with the reason and dates your student is absent.

For Late ArrivalTop of Page

If your student is late to school, please have them check in at the Attendance desk.  Students who are late to their first class of the day (zero or first/second period), parents will receive an email/phone call home that evening to inform them of the tardy.  To excuse the tardy, parents have 48 hours to contact the attendance office with a valid excuse. If the tardy remains unexcused, it will be reported to the Assistant Principal for progressive discipline as outlined in the student agenda.

Off Campus PassesTop of Page

Please email 24 to 48 hours ahead and your student can pick up the pass when they arrive at school that day.

When emailing, please specify in the subject line "Off- Campus Pass" and include the following:
  1. Student's name and Student ID #
  2. Your name and relationship to student
  3. The reason for leaving early
  4. Time of dismissal
  5. Indicate if the student is returning or not
  6. A contact phone number.
If someone other than a parent is picking up a student, please provide this information and their name - they must be on the student's emergency card on file at the school and must be at least 18 years old.
